Berni’s web site www.oldfilibuster.com is a response to the capricious vagaries of life past and present. This is done through satirical essays, articles and ‘frankly blank verse’. Berni regularly reads her poetry at open mic night in The Irish Writer’s Centre. Her work has been broadcast on RTE 1’s Sunday Miscellany and Lyric FM’s The Quiet Quarter and published in a variety of newspapers, magazines and websites. She is finalising her first collection of poetry and is currently involved in two writing projects. In March 2016 she performed a one woman show called Unrhymed Dublin as part of the Smock Alley Theatre Scene and Heard Festival. The only object in life that she desperately wants to own is a working time machine. Berni teaches journalism, history, English literature and creative writing in Dublin. She’s a curmudgeonly old fuss pot but there’s no real harm in that, is there?

Next time you visit that fine institution that never succumbed to the vagaries of fashion: the Natural History Museum on Dublin’s Merrion Square take a look at the display cabinets that contain the marine exhibits. Loiter around these…
