Carol is a PhD researcher at the School of Global Women's Studies in NUI Galway, studying the impact of GBV-related stigma on migrant communities in Ireland. She is part of a research team documenting the social and economic impacts of Violence Against Women and Girls in three low income countries.

Prior to this project, she worked for ten years in international development, and lived in Honduras and Guatemala as well as travelling regularly to countries in East and Southern Africa. She is passionate about community development, participatory approaches, and popular activism. She lives in Dublin, with her husband and 5 year old twins.
