Atlantis Short Story Contest

Entry to the Atlantis Short Story Contest 2017/18 is open until 25th February.  Prizes range from $50 to $300 and all entrants will receive feedback on their work.  Full details about entrance, fees, and rules are available here.

Broken Dimanche Press

Berlin-based Broken Dimanche Press does not usually accept open submissions. However, in 2018 they are operating an open submission window from 1st February to 1st April for works of fiction in 2019. They are interested in fiction looking at political, environmental and sexual perspectives that push the boundaries both formally and with regard to content.  To be considered, email a synopsis of your book, a short bio and an extract to [email protected].

Chocolate Poetry Club Poet In Residence

Ah it’s January again. There’s a chill in the air and the trees are bare, rain, again, new seasons and new reasons to write, read and eat chocolate. Chocolate Poetry Club is now accepting applications for a new ‘Poet In Residence’ for 2018.  Last year they produced showcases in Brixton, Camden, Northampton and were invited to Lambeth Country Show, Tate Modern and more.  Download the application form here and submit it to [email protected] by 1st March.

OPEN – Pierre’s Journey After War launch

All are welcome to the launch of OPEN – Pierre’s Journey after War by Margareth Stewart at the Irish Writers Centre, 6.30pm on Monday 29th January. OPEN – Pierre’s Journey after War is an intimate story of a man whose wife and children are killed during bombardments of France in WWII. Devastated and embittered, Pierre leaves everything behind and embarks on an odyssey to bury his past in the darkest recesses of his mind. The journey, which lasts more than forty years, involves a sequence of events and coincidences that ultimately provide him new direction and a sense of purpose.

Slam Sunday

Slam Sunday is back on Sunday 4th February with its monthly live slam poetry competition in the basement of Filmbase, Curved Street, Temple Bar. Doors open 6pm. Show starts 6.30pm.  Early bird tickets €4 from Eventbrite.  Unsold tickets will be available on the door for €7.
