Poem of the Week |30| Bubaloo

Bubaloo

Boomeranging distance
Between us, I throw it away
And it hurtles back
Like the hooves
Of a hundred horses
Upon muddied sand.

I remember pulling
Bubble-gum between my teeth
And wanting it to stretch
Further than the length
Of my arm.

Walking that thin, rubbery line now
Is like watching you breathe
In and out and waiting
For silence.
