Poem of the Week | I see you now by Aoife Finnegan
Eyes closing for a minute, just resting-
the mountain a dim shadow on a green lake,
shade worn lightly-
We didn’t even notice
not until years later
when it wasn’t as easy to
search a face
without being found out,
no longer unknowing.
Old woman that you never were
never wore discontent round her neck,
a thick gold chain.
Not in the gloom of the green lake as
the mountain closed over it-
Not sleeping, just resting.
