Over this time he has developed a distinct style of illustration influenced by a love for mid century design, folk art and vintage print. His use of shape, texture and flat composition produces work that is both fresh and full of character.
Peter has given illustration workshops and talks for L’Ecole de Communication Visuelle, France, Screen Training Ireland, Ballyfermot College of Further Education, The Copper House Gallery and The Behance Portfolio Review as well as hosting children’s art workshops for The Children’s Laureate and the Pushkin Trust. He has also been a featured artist in the Taschen Illustration Now series.
The illustration above was runner up in Creative Quarterly 42. The Journal of Art & Design Awards.
Donnelly begins all of his projects with hand drawing before he scans them on works on them on his computer. Drawing is his favourite part of the process. You can catch a sneak peak of his sketchbooks on his Instagram page and on his website.
