New Trailers 18 | Lucy in the Sky, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Toy Story 4

New Trailers on HeadStuff is the place to catch up on all the latest teasers released in the world of Film and TV. Stephen Porzio tells you what’s hot.

Most Anticipated – The Dead Don’t Die, Dir Jim Jarmusch

If you ever wanted to see Adam Driver kill a zombie with a machete or Tilda Swinton using a katana, The Dead Don’t Die is for you.

The coolest man in cinema, writer-director Jim Jarmusch (Dead Man, Only Lovers Left Alive, Paterson) assembles his large, impressive roster of collaborators for this wry, goofy but surprisingly violent tribute to the likes of Return of the Living Dead. It looks like it has bite.

2. Lucy in the Sky, Dir Noah Hawley

Despite Lucy in the Sky being his film directorial debut, Noah Hawley is entering cinema with the reputation of an auteur thanks to his stellar work as showrunner on FX’s Fargo and Legion. This looks like it will be similarly impressive, centring on an astronaut (Natalie Portman) who begins to lose touch with reality back on Earth after seeing it from space.

3. Once Upon A Time in Hollywood, Dir Quentin Tarantino

A new Tarantino film is always an event for cinephiles. Dodgy poster aside, this looks no different, with the writer-director plunging viewers into 1969 LA.

The trailer doesn’t answer the question of how Tarantino will manage to balance the bromance between a Western movie star (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his stunt double (Brad Pitt) with what happened to Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie) at the hands of Charles Manson (Damon Herriman). Even so, goddamn Mike Moh looks great as Bruce Lee and DiCaprio crying of joy is laugh-out funny.

4. Stranger Things Season 3, Netflix

It says quite a lot about the goodwill Stranger Things has generated since premiering in 2016 on Netflix that it can drop a full nearly three minute trailer that reveals virtually nothing about its upcoming third season. That’s because its characters are so likable and its 80’s nostalgia tinged view of Americana is so well-realised that I’d be content watching El, Max and the boys just go to the mall and get a malt. Apparently though there will be cool giant monsters and Cary Elwes as a mayor, if that’s your bag.

Speaking of Netflix, the streaming giant also dropped a trailer for upcoming Swedish crime drama Quicksand. Premiering Friday, April 5 – its solid teaser can be seen here.

They also released a trailer for their A Quiet Place knock-off The Silence. Available to watch by following this link, it’s out April 10.

5. Chernobyl / Euphoria, HBO

Like Netflix, HBO had a busy week – previewing footage from two of their highly anticipated new series. Starring Jared Harris, Stellan Skarsgard, Emily Watson alongside Irish rising stars Barry Keoghan and Jessie Buckley, Chernobyl looks absolutely terrifying, dropping viewers into the worst man made catastrophe in history.

While Euphoria’s teaser gives viewers less to go on, film fanatics should keep an eye on this remake of an Israeli series. Writer-director Sam Levinson (Assassination Nation) recruits another group of fine young actors – Zendaya, Storm Reid, Algee Smith, Sydney Sweeney – for this exploration of high schoolers and the tribulations they face.

6. Toy Story 4, Dir Josh Cooley

Wow. They are really doubling down on Spork Man. That’s not a good sign. However, I’d be lying if my heart didn’t sing when ‘God Only Knows’ plays mid-way through this clip.
