4 Shows Like Outer Banks To Keep You Going Until Season 4
There’s no surprise that shows like Outer Banks do amazingly well. Scenic getaways, historic treasure hunts, romance and feuding class systems; Outer Banks has it all.
While the new season has only been released a short time, this show has climbed to the top of Netflix’s English speaking tv charts with 154.97 million hours viewed since its release, on the 23 of February. Although getting mixed reviews from fans, the show is still doing extremely well .
Sadly, some of us have finished the newest season of the show and our adventures with “the pogues” have come to a halt until season four comes out. Not to worry though we’ve got you covered. Here’s a list of Netflix shows like Outer Banks to binge before season 4.
On My Block
Age rating- 15
On My Block is another Netflix original show, which follows a group of young teens through the highs and lows of high school. We get an insight into how their young savvy minds think, while also getting to soak up the drama of their lives. We see their struggles, in their predominantly black and hispanic neighbourhood. This show has four seasons, in which you will surely get connected to the characters and their stories and maybe find something to relate to as they navigate adolescence .
This coming of age comedy starring Sierra Capri, Jason Genoa and Jessica Marie Garcia has been nominated for many awards. Its actors have also been nominated for awards individually including Jessica Marie Garcia being nominated for the Teen Choice Award for her performance in On My Block.
Riverdale
Age rating- 15
While watching Riverdale we get to witness a murder mystery unfold before us. Archie Andrews the jock, Betty the girl next door, the new girl Veronica and the outcast and bad boy Jughead Jones form an unlikely friend group, to solve a murder case while also trying to navigate teen emotions and high school stereotypes. In their “quiet”, small town Riverdale, where no crime really happens, a murder sets this friend group on a head spinning adventure, to try and protect the ones they love while trying to stay alive. This unlikely band of friends has to hold it together while their whole world is turned upside down and torn apart. Will they be able to do it? While watching this show you get to find out.
This show starring Kj Apa, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Cole Sprouse and Madelaine Petsch can be classed as a horror crime drama, while in the later seasons it has a lot more of a musical feel. The actors in this show have done really well all winning awards as individuals for their performance in this show including Madelaine Petsch won a Teen Choice Award for choice hissy fit.
Elite
Age rating – 18
Elite is a must watch Spanish drama series. After three kids from a working class background enrol in a private school the ‘rich kids’ can’t seem to welcome them, and this divide will soon come to murder. What will happen? Will they ever be able to come together? You’ll see in this show. We get to watch along and choose our side, as this story unfolds before our eyes. We see all their hidden secrets, and all of their not so hidden secrets. We watch as they try to fit in with these new people, as well as fight off the stereotypes being pushed on them.
This show will definitely be a help as you wait for Outer Banks season four, with its whopping six seasons (and confirmed seventh season). This show really is a fan favourite. We still get all our favourite Outer Banks moments of mystery and romance, while getting to see new faces and new scenarios.
Pirate Gold of Adak Island

In 1892, a pirate buried gold worth over $300 Million on Adak Island, but he died before he could reclaim his treasure. In this show, we get to watch a skilled team of treasure hunters look for this gold, but what they don’t know is that Mother Nature plans to put a few obstacles in their way. If you like shows like Outer Banks for their treasure hunting theme, you’ll love this. Pirate Gold of Adak Island will keep you on the edge of your seat while you root for the treasure hunters in the constant clutches of peril.
Adak Island is a small island with only 45 inhabitants still living there. With so few inhabitants this island is on the verge of economic collapse, so the mayor has decided he wants to try and find the pirates’ treasure to save the island. He ropes Dr M Jackson, Burke Mitchell, Jay Toomoth and Brian Weed. While Jay Toomoth and Burke Mitchell were childhood friends, it was in high school that they took an interest in finding the treasure known to have been buried on their homeland of Adak. Dr M Jackson is a geographist, scientist and National Geographic explorer. Brian Weed also has an interesting backstory like the others as he is a well known explorer in Alaska. Can they find this treasure and, together, try and save this island? You’ll have to tune in to find out.
