Fashionable Low Budget Festival Fashion On A Budget

Women, ladies, girls… hello and welcome back to Bexposé. It’s THAT time of year again!!! 35,000 revellers are heading down to Electric Picnic this weekend so a flawless trendy appearance is absolutely key ladies!!!! Here are the key items you need to keep your festival fashion “on fleek” all weekend long  – and all on a low budget!

The Clothes

As we all know, the traditional female uniform for festivals is shorts, a croptop, flower crown/oversized hat and wellies. Why not go for an original spin on these classic festival pieces?

Shorts

Instead of wearing the usual denim arse-skimming shorts this year, why not wear a toga made from old bedsheets???? That’s right ladies – raid your local hot press and with two safety pins, you’re in business! These Grecian shorts will come in especially handy if you don’t last in the unbearable toilet queues!

Croptop

Croptop style has evolved over the years and this year the trend is the tighter the better! To get the perfect flattering fit, why not search for baby-gros you wore as a child? That’s right girls! Put two arms through and chop away to your hearts content. If you really want to upgrade the look from day to evening wear – why not get to grips with your First Holy Communion dress for that extra oomph glam feel!

Flower crown

Wearing flowers on one’s head dates back to the 60s & 70s Woodstock era, but to freshen things up a bit, keep on reading! If you’re looking for fashion inspiration regarding head pieces, why not look back through history for some cute vintage looks? Back to say, the son of Christ himself! Jesus wore a crown of thorns, and if it’s good enough for him, who are we to complain???

Wellies

As weather is predicted to be good for Electric Picnic, why not branch out and skip the wellies this year? Walk around barefoot! Soak up the festival vibe, the dewy grass, the atmosphere, the vomit, the used condoms, the cold soggy chips – all with your very own feet!

The Accessories

As Naomi Campbell famously said ‘thanks hun 3 euros penneys’, accessories are almost more important than the outfit itself! Irish girls at festivals love to look as gorge as possible and I’ll share a few pro tips on how to achieve a look – on the cheap!

Fake tan

A nice bronzed glow is an essential base for any look! Can’t afford Cocoa Brown or St. Tropez? No worries! To exfoliate your legs before tanning, jump over a wall approx. 5 times and follow with a dog scratching your leg for 1.75 minutes. To tan the skin, use 2 handfuls of cocoa powder and apply liberally. Use clear nail varnish to set the colour and hey presto!

Sunglasses

With Ireland’s famous hot sunny climate, sunglasses are key! Get yourself a pair of sunglasses from any retailer. To stop them falling off your head, why not superglue them to your neck?

Jewellry

Afraid of losing expensive jewellery on your wild festival escapades? Why not bring a roll of tin foil and sellotape it to your waist! Perfect to add that sprinkle of glitz to any outfit!

Well ladies, that’s all for today on our festival fashion segment! Tune in next week for another unmissable episode of Bexposé!
