Tittererer’s Digest #48 (feat. Broad City)

Hey there, ho there, yo there, how are we all doing? I have some thoughts about this new Twitter hearts thing and I’m going to share it with you now. Basically, red is a very distracting colour and my poor millennial brain can’t handle the constant distractions. I am a millennial, barely. I think the cut-off is like 1983? I’m definitely a Willennial anyway, I have that Big Willie Style that all the ladies in the wikka Wild Wild West love. Anyway, yes Digests and such. There’s some Broad City, two excellent Irish sketches, a different, American sketch, and some exciting Graham Linehan and Adam Buxton news. See you in the other italics at the bottom of the page.

1. Hack Into Broad City – Halloween

Broad City has been releasing weekly-ish shorts to keep us all happy until it returns in February next year. I could definitely watch a full half hour of Abbi and Ilana just chatting over Skype but these little bits will have to do for now. Modern Family did an episode which took place entirely on the screen of a Macbook so there’s no reason why Broad City couldn’t do a Skype/FaceTime episode. Just putting that out there. When this current batch of shorts was first released they were geolocked because nothing is easy in this life so I didn’t mention them here because we are a law-abiding website and also I’m too lazy to find them if they’re not on YouTube. Now, however, that seems to have changed so here’s the most recent one. It’s about Halloween.

2. Quantum Drunk

Next we have an excellent sketch written by Colin Chadwick and Directed by Diarmuid O’Brien, both of whom are Digest regulars at this stage. It stars Seamus Hanly, Simon Mulholland, and Donnacha O’Brien and is narrated by the genius behind Raw Talent, Deirdre Sullivan. Irish sketch comedy is in such a good place right now. It’s only a matter of time before RTÉ realises it and gives all these people shows. Five years maybe, ten years tops.

3. The Good Teacher

See what I mean? Here’s another great Irish sketch. This one’s from the Dreamgun peoples who annoyingly haven’t put credits on their video. Sure, thy know themselves who they are anyway.

4. New Graham Linehan and Adam Buxton Thing!

Graham Linehan and Adam Buxton are making a series for Channel 4 called The Cloud. Any other info I gave you would just be copied from this Radio Times article so read that and let’s just say that it’s very exciting and that I like it when good things happen for Dr Buckles. He is well good.

5. Scoutmaster Feldman’s Safety Rap

Casey Jost of UCB presents a short rap about campfire safety.

6. Desserts I Have Been Horrified By On “The Great British Bake-Off”

The Great British Bake-Off just went up on US Netflix so Americans can finally discover the joy of Mel and Sue for themselves. It also means we get this, which is hopefully the first of many Mallory Ortberg articles about GBBO.

Ok, I’m going to bed, it’s late. I really don’t get enough sleep.
