Tittererer’s Digest |56| feat. Keanu

Hello, sorry I’m late. My laptop died. I may have said that last week but my laptop was dead then as well. It’s still dead is what I’m saying. I’m writing this on my wife’s laptop. It’s different. The keys are all in slightly different places so I keep doing weird things. This is boring. I’m boring you. There’s loads to digest this week including the trailer for Keanu, various good sketches, and a very long oral history of a very important message board. So let’s crack on.

1. Keanu

Keanu is the first Key and Peele film. You know Key and Peele. They’re your favourites. Keanu seems to be about a kidnapped kitten who inadvertently sparks a gang war. I refuse to find out more because I like to be surprised. Also, it is very late. This trailer though, very funny. Very, very funny.

2. Shane’s Brilliant Variety Hour

[youtube id=”fcFb2bobggg” align=”center” mode=”normal” autoplay=”no” maxwidth=”550″]

Shane is a mysterious figure. He sent me an email over Christmas basically saying “Look at my videos now” so I did and they’re great. I realise now that the problem isn’t so much that Shane is mysterious but more that I have terrible social skills and asked him nothing about himself. I’ll rectify that I promise. Here is Shane’s pilot for his Brilliant Variety Hour. It’s bleak and uncomfortable and very funny.

3. Adam Driver On SNL

Adam Driver hosted SNL last weekend. Here are my two favourite sketches from the night. Adam Driver’s good though isn’t he? He can do comedy and very dark and switch them up at the drop of a hat. Domhnall Gleeson’s good like that as well. Someone should put them in a movie together.
True story: I did Buzzfeed’s Which GIRLS Character Are You? quiz and got Adam. Which probably explains why I don’t hate Hannah on GIRLS like everyone else does. And also why I gave Lena Dunham’s book five stars on Goodreads before copping on and giving it four instead.

First up, Kylo Ren as the Undercover Boss

and now the Golden Globes sketch. Adam Driver’s good in this but it’s really all about the performances of Kyle Mooney and Kate McKinnon.

4. Hotel For Dads: SnoozeConnect

[youtube id=”L0rLQiOfu2g” align=”center” mode=”normal” autoplay=”no” maxwidth=”550″]

Hotel For Dads presents a solution for all thirsty guys who keep making a mess of your notifications and keeping you awake.

5. Two Things To Read

The first is You Almost Certainly Won’t Discover A Body During Your Hike Today, But Just In Case, by Juliana Gray which you can read over at SplitSider

The second is a huge oral history of A Special Thing, a message board where basically everybody who’s everybody i.e. has their own show or popular podcast, posted in the early 2000s. I’d never heard of it before this and now I’m absolutely raging that I wasn’t on it. I spent the early 2000s on a message board called SMDF, which was for musicy type people in Waterford. I posted on it a lot and eventually rose to the position of administrator, similar to how I got the job here at HeadStuff. If I’d put all that energy into A Special Thing I’d probably be a Comedy Bang Bang regular by now. Ah well, such are the whims of geography and time. You can read it for yourself here.

So there we go, another digest written on an unfamiliar laptop. I hope you enjoyed it. Byeeeee.
