Artist Spotlight | Abstract Source & Amey St. Cyr Team Up

After channelling a world of experience over the last few years, playing enormous shows around the world and exploring a diverse array of aesthetics in the process, fast-rising producer and DJ Abstract Source returns to unveil his vibrant new single ‘Mad World’. Abstract Source is known for the broad and infectious rhythms he displayed on recent singles ‘Tell Me’ and ‘Day To Night’ and now he returns to the fold once again to deliver this pulsing new groove with Amey St. Cyr.

Sharing the stage with the ever-impressive Amey St. Cyr on vocals, the duo deliver a rich and alluring slice of house-inspired grooves that look to move the body as much as the soul. The smooth and shimmering rhythm of ‘Mad World’ sets it apart from much of the usual output on the commercial scene, and creates a warm and enticing vibe throughout.

Following a strong and uplifting piano-house sound throughout, ‘Mad World’ makes for a fresh and upbeat listen. Jam-packed with killer hooks, smooth vibes, and some wonderfully soulful vocals from start to finish, it is clear to see why so many have been turning onto his sound of late.

Adding her thoughts on the track, Amey St. Cyr added “Mad World is about the delusion of supremacy. Whether we think we are superior because we are white or male or heterosexual or able-bodied etc, It’s all an illusion. Which in the words of the song can cause ‘so much pain and confusion.'”

“I have put to bed certain childhood fantasies like finding a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow but ‘the fool in my heart still dares to dream’ about a time when there will be equality for all regardless of gender, race, class, sexual orientation, and the like.”

“I suppose the message of the song is despite the fact that we live in a society where there is so much inequality, if our sense of freedom comes from within then we can feel completely unfettered by society’s constraints.”

“When we stop feeling the need to keep up with the Joneses, when we dress how we like without worrying what anyone thinks, when we follow our dreams, when we truly learn to love ourselves and embrace the person we were always meant to be, that’s real freedom and it’s within our grasp.”

“’We’ve got the strength to survive in this mad, bad world we’re living in’. Yes we really have.”
