Welcome to THE PLAYLIST, where we pick a theme and, er, make a playlist around it. Sometimes you might get an essay, other times you might get just one sentence as a precursor to the laser-focused audio delights that await below. Justin McDaid returns with 21 slices of relationship-related angst. No, wait, it’s really good…
“Pretty women out walking with gorillas down my street”.
Now there’s an opening line – Joe Jackson pretty much nailed incredulous disdain on the standout track on his debut album, Look Sharp! Is she really going out with him? Is he really going out with her? Are they really going out with each other? Variations on this question are to be found below, ranging from the defeated, to the vengeful, to the glorious resignation of Jilted John:
“Oh she’s a slag, and he’s a creep
She’s a tart, he’s very cheap
She is a slut, he thinks he’s tough
She is a bitch, he is a puff
Yeah yeah, it’s not fair”
Chin up, everyone…sit back, hit play and wait that relationship out (for the next hour and a bit, at least). Your time will come.
