Fair Game #23 | Review of the Year 2017

We’ve been running FAIR GAME for over two years now, and keenly following all aspects of women’s sports for a lot longer – undeniably, these past 12 months have been among the busiest we’ve ever seen in terms of women featuring in the national sporting conversation.

That said, it hasn’t all been for the right reasons. 2017 has been a year of exhilarating highs for many athletes and teams – but, we also had some huge stories serving as a stern reminder that although we are definitely going in the right direction, there is still a LOT more to be done in terms of gender parity for Irish sportswomen.

To talk through the highs and lows, the ups and downs, and everything else in between we are joined by one of the top sports journalists in the business, MARIE CROWE– a McNamee Award-winning writer; covering all fields with The Independent in print, and on-screen & online with RTÉ Sport; and the Republic of Ireland soccer correspondent for UEFA.

So, in this special bumper edition of FAIR GAME join us on a journey back through 2017 with the sporting highlights for each month, all the biggest talking points beyond the fields of play – plus, our own personal picks for Sporting Moment of the Year, Team of the Year, Sportswoman of the Year,  Media Moment of the Year... and some big hopes for 2018.
