Murder One: The Podcast | Debut Authors: Holly Jackson, Catherine Kirwan and James Delargy

Sam Blake’s Fresh Blood Meet three stunning debut authors: Holly Jackson, Catherine Kirwan and James Delargy

Find out how these authors got their break and what made the difference for them. How did they get their ideas and how long did it take to go from idea to bookshelf? From ingenious premise, to writing what you know, Sam Blake gets to the heart of three completely different but massively successful debut novels.

Sam Blake has been writing fiction since her husband set sail across the Atlantic for eight weeks and she had an idea for a book. The first in her bestselling Cat Connolly trilogy, Little Bones, was nominated for Irish Crime Novel of the Year. Her next book was Keep Your Eyes on Me, a standalone psychological thriller. Her Behind the Bestseller podcast launches in January 2020 with the Headstuff Podcast Network.

James Delargy was born and raised in Ireland and lived in South Africa, Australia and Scotland, before ending up in England where he now lives. 55 is his first novel, which has been sold in 19 countries so far and optioned for film by Zucker Productions in partnership with Prodigy Pictures.

Holly Jackson completed her first (poor) attempt at a novel aged fifteen. She lives in London and aside from reading and writing, she enjoys playing video games and watching true crime documentaries so she can pretend to be a detective. A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder is her first novel – she never intended to write a second book but her editor has insisted!

Catherine Kirwan grew up on a farm in the parish of Fews, County Waterford. She studied law at UCC and lives in Cork where she works as a solicitor. Sam Blake quizzes her on the early twist that draws her reader right into the story and doesn’t let them go until the last page.
