Tom Moran plays Personality bingo

Origin Story #1 | Tom Moran of Personality Bingo

In this series of short interviews, we find out the origins of some Irish podcasts. What are podcasters listening to and which shows inspired them to start their own podcast?

Q: When you decided to start your podcast, what shows were you listening to?

You Made It Weird with Pete Holmes

An Irishman Abroad with Jarlath Regan

The Joe Rogan Experience (I’ve since grown up… a little, haha)

Q: Is there a podcast in your area that you would consider a really standout or world-class show?

I think that Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard is a brilliant deep-dive into identity, human nature and why we do the things we do. Similarly, You Made It Weird with Pete Holmes discusses Comedy, Sex and God. But, in reality, it looks at Creation, Love and Spirituality in a really interesting and open way. Both podcasts give guests an avenue to show their truest self and leave you with a real sense of the person and their humanity.

Q: What other podcasts do fans of your show tend to listen to?

The Blindboy Podcast

RISE Productions’ Irish Theatre Podcast

The Alison Spittle Show

Q: As your show has grown over the months and years, have your listening habits changed?

I now am a paid subscriber to TWO podcasts, Scriptnotes (a screenwriting podcast) and Second Captains (a sports podcast). Other than that, probably not.
