Two HeadStuff podcasts take their new comedy show to Dublin Fringe Festival 2022

The hosts of two popular Irish podcasts, Sissy That Pod (James O’Hagan, Cian Sullivan) and Phoning It In (Dave Coffey) are teaming up to bring their new comedy show Klankety Klank to Dublin Fringe Festival 2022. The show is coming to Smock Alley Theatre this September 13, 14, 15, and 18, at 9pm.

Featuring top Irish comedians including Alison Spittle, Kevin McGahern, Edwin Sammon, and drag performers such as Miss Taken, Lavender and Goblins Goblins Goblins, Klankety Klank sees Irish comics impersonate local stars and global celebrities in this parody of the well-known gameshow Blankety Blank.

“Cian and James originally approached me about doing a hybrid version of both our podcasts,” said Phoning It In host Dave Coffey. “I loved the idea because I’m a massive fan of [RuPaul’s] Drag Race and Sissy That Pod. I’m really happy to be stepping back into the role of host. As well as being a massive fan of RuPaul, I also used to watch the original Blankety Blank when I was a kid, and I was a huge fan of Les Dawson. Those are some big shoes to fill.”

“The natural middle ground between our two podcasts is The Snatch Game as it’s probably the most beloved challenge on Drag Race and it relies heavily on improv. It’s one of those challenges where Queens either kill it or die a death. That’s what makes it so compelling,” added Cian Sullivan (Sissy That Pod co-host).

Audiences can expect to see the likes of Kim Kardashian and Tom Cruise rubbing shoulders with Bosco and Mary Robinson in this unique comedy quiz spectacular. The twist is that every night features different cast members, celebrity characters and questions… so anything can happen.

“I think audiences will really enjoy seeing an Irish take on The Snatch Game, and seeing Irish stars mixed with the global celebs. It’s not often you get to see Bosco and Leo Varadkar mixing it up with Tilda Swinton and The Real Housewives,” said James O’Hagan (Sissy That Pod co-host).

Other performers scheduled to appear across the four-night run include actress and comedian Hannah Mamalis, US comedian Erin McGathy and Belfast-born drag performer Rosa Tralee.

Both Sissy That Pod and Phoning It In are available on the HeadStuff Podcast Network, which is sponsoring Klankety Klank at Dublin Fringe Festival.

“It’s great that Headstuff have come onboard as sponsors of the show. Neither podcast would exist if it was for HeadStuff so it seems fitting that they’re also helping to make the Dublin Fringe run possible,” said Sullivan.

You can check out both podcasts at headstuffpodcasts.com, or wherever you normally get your podcasts.
