#64 | Jenny Jones

‘And you’re just sitting there with your Aisling copy like – ’

This week on Up To 90, we talk nineties daytime talk show ‘Jenny Jones’.

The former standup spearheaded the saucy post-lunchtime slot which saw gang members renounce their allegiances, women find out who’s the daddy and extreme makeovers show schoolyard bullies just what they were missing.

‘Jenny Jones’ ran from 1991 to 2003 and was not without its controversy, most notably in 1995 when a ‘secret crush’ resulted in a shocking murderer which called into question the morality behind parading personal narratives in such a public forum.

The killing forced viewers to pose the question: was this show exploitative? Or could no TV team be expected to predict how one man would react with such fatal consequences?

We talk Bethlehem, troubled childhoods, star searches and accountability in this week’s edition of Up to 90.
