Desert to Doorus | Sudanese Artist’s at the Courthouse, Kinvara, Galway

Salah-Ibrahim-image30 December to 10 January  | Opening: 29 December, 8pm
The Courthouse, Sraid Locoal-Mendon, Kinvara, County Galway

Kinvara Area Visual Arts are pleased to host the exhibition ‘Desert to Doorus’, featuring paintings by Sudanese artists Salah Ibrahim and Ahmed Hussein, both of whom are based in Darfur. Salah Ibrahim’s work is inspired by the ethically diverse tribes of Darfur. Ahmed Hussein hails from the Dajo tribe who were prominent in the ancient kingdom of Kush, the black pharaonic dynasty of Sudan. Much of the symbolism and imagery of this civilisation imbues his work. This exhibition promises to offer an insight into a fascinating, ancient and richly diverse culture that is little understood and remains in relative obscurity.

Harry Moore at the Irish Architectural Archive, Dublin 2

AtriumAtrium
Until 31 January 2016
Tuesday to Friday 10am to 5pm

The convention of high multi-story chambers offers architects opportunities to play with structure, incorporating light and shape without the burden of functional occupation. Using the softer realisation of pinhole photography, Harry Moore’s images appreciate the atmosphere of the spaces, in opposition to the convention of sharp detail that usually features in architectural photography.
