Up this week is Australian, LA based artist George Byrne and his dreamy photography. Follow him here @georgebyrne
After graduating from Sydney College of Arts, Byrne travelled extensively before settling in LA and exploring its urban expanses in his photographic practice.
His photographic series ‘Local Division’ captures the every day urban scene but points out the beauty, symmetry and colour of it all. He created a ‘Local Division’ of both LA and Sydney.
‘George Byrne’s L.A series ‘Local Division’ resonates with a quiet, deductive intensity. Borrowing from the clean, vivid clarity of modernist painting, Byrne also references the New Topographics photography movement via a subject matter firmly entrenched in the urban everyday. Byrne’s oeuvre is to spin L.A.’s most disposable architecture and redundant landscapes into seismic moments. He seeks the subliminal and sublime in the everyday. ‘ – Source
Byrne’s Instagram has become a visual scrapbook for him since 2013 and a well curated online gallery for us to enjoy.
