Hilary OMahony is a visual artist from Ireland. She studied Fine Art at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin and graduated in 2010. She has since been living and working in London. Hilary has exhibited at various galleries and sites throughout Ireland and the UK, including Rua Red - South Dublin Arts Centre, Schwartz Galley, The Invisible Line, Block T, Space 54 and The Backloft. She was selected for Artist? in 2011 and received a public art commission from Dublin City Council in 2009.
Hilary works from a studio which is based in her home in east London. Her practice consists of a series of ongoing experiments, observations and discussions. She realises her ideas in a variety of ways including object making, drawing, photography, installation (including site specific work) and video. Hilary makes work about how people engage with their surrounding environment. Shes interested in how people create structure and clarity through setting boundaries and regularly applies methods of repetition and pattern to explore ideas about structure. Her work ultimately aims to break down barriers in order to ask questions about everyday life.
