This week its Chris Jones. Chris is a Dublin-based photographer. Often captured candidly, his work looks at the narratives that emerge from daily life. He has featured in exhibitions through Ireland including being selected for PhotoIreland’s Greetings from Ireland exhibition in 2015.
Instagram is a great place to discover people – It’s important to see what others are creating. It also gives me a space to share my work and help me focus on selecting stronger images.
I’m a latecomer to Instagram, I joined around this time last year after some friends encouraged me to. I was hooked instantly – I love that it’s just visuals and not an endless stream of ads.
I suppose that I could be described as a street photographer. I studied fine art so I feel that has an influence on how I look at things– people factor greatly in my photographs whether in the street or the landscape. I like to try and tell a story with each image.
I shoot with a Canon DSLR and my Ricoh GR which is perfect for street photography as it’s very discreet.
Bruce Davidson, Cindy Sherman, Robert Frank and Vivian Maier all remind me of how powerful photography can be.
