Tittererer’s Digest |133| feat. Voting YES

Hello readers. Tomorrow is an important day. Tomorrow we will be voting in the most important referendum in a generation. You need to get out and vote YES to grant fundamental human rights to over half the population of this country. People deserve the bodily autonomy they are entitled to.

The women of this country have been working relentlessly in the campaign to repeal the 8th amendment for weeks, months and years now. They’re a force to be reckoned with and you need to make sure you do your part tomorrow. Every person who can get pregnant needs safe and timely access to medical treatment; abortions or otherwise. We need the 8th gone for that to happen. This week’s Digest features plenty of content from like-minded comedians and artists, so enjoy and then vote YES.

1. Irish Comedians Abroad: Be Our Yes

Sharon Horgan and Aisling Bea present this star-studded appeal featuring some serious comic talent who themselves (or their parents) left these shores long ago and cannot vote to give Irish women bodily autonomy.

2. Saint Brigid

David Keeling made this short about Saint Brigid who, more famously than the church might like, performed an abortion among her other notable achievements. The film is narrated by modern day legend Tara Flynn.

3. Love Them Oats

Alternative Bites have produced many pieces about the referendum including the above sketch, this takedown of Wendy Grace on the Late Late Show and a guided tour of a particularly bizarre anti-choice poster.

In Case You Missed It…

Recently Jim Jefferies featured a piece on Irish abortion law and the referendum. It features, again, the wonderful Tara Flynn and an awful fascist man.
